Plan a trip to Bucharest with a rental car

A rental car trip to Bucharest can be part of a short city stay, a business visit or a longer journey in Romania. Before comparing vehicles, decide whether you will drive from Bulgaria or arrive by air and arrange a local rental separately. The starting point changes both the length of the rental and the conditions you need to check.

Organise your travel plans around the collection location. If you need a car in Bucharest, consult the official Top Rent A Car Romania information and check the terms of the particular offer you select. Keep the collection instructions and contact details from your booking available for your arrival.

If you are flying, check the exact collection point stated in your booking. A reference to Otopeni Airport does not automatically mean that the vehicle is handed over at the terminal. Follow the selected provider’s instructions and allow time between arrival and your first appointment.

When driving a rental car from Bulgaria, include the journey in the rental period. Discuss your route through Romania before confirming the booking, and check the conditions for the selected vehicle. Estimated driving time does not replace the agreed return time, so plan the outbound and return journeys together.

For a business visit, arrange your meeting addresses by day and consider how often you will use the car. A compact class may suit a trip with little luggage. For several passengers, compare boot space and room in the cabin more carefully. Match the vehicle to the people and belongings travelling with you.

If your itinerary includes other places in Romania, work out the full rental period in advance. Check permitted use, the equipment you need and the return conditions. When considering an electric vehicle, plan charging on the parts of the route outside the city as well as at your accommodation.

When selecting a hotel or apartment, ask about vehicle access, parking and payment arrangements. Leave time for driving and parking between appointments in different parts of Bucharest. A parking location shown on a map does not mean that a space will be available or free when you arrive.

Review the return address and the instructions in your agreement before the final day. If you have a flight, allow time for the handover and for reaching the terminal. Confirm any different return location in advance: destination information alone does not establish that a one-way rental is available.
